Alex is an Industrial designer whose studio works in the areas of product design, sculpture, installation and environmental design. Alex finished his Bachelors of Industrial Design (Hons) at Monash University in 2013 spending his final Honours year designing and developing MARS - Modular Artificial Reef Structure. The project won multiple awards gaining worldwide publicity and has been featured on Dezeen, Australian Geographic, Popular Science Magazine, Discovery News, Huffington Post and CBS amongst others. In 2014 Alex teamed up with industry pioneer David Lennon to co-found Reef Design Lab, a not for profit organisation dedicated to advancing artificial reef design and construction for marine environment rehabilitation. The organisation is currently involved in research with Sydney Institute of Marine Science developing eco-engineering designs for the World Harbour Project. Alex has spoken at various events around the world about his work at Reef Design Lab, most recently in May at the St Gallen Symposium in Switzerland.

Before beginning his studio practise and co-founding Reef Design Lab Alex collaborated with long time friend and fellow recent Industrial Design graduate Merric French where they formed New ProjeKt Studio. The studio completed restaurant interiors, tableware products and worked for clients such as Aesop and Sunland Group.

Alex also maintains a sculpture practice from his Melbourne studio where he has exhibited throughout Australia and recently completed a 2.5 tonne permanent sculpture for the City of Port Phillip that referenced the cell structure of temperate marine sponge that grow in the area. His sculptural works often referenced his research projects and have been a powerful source of technical and conceptual experimentation.
